An innovative collection created by Designer Sabrina Sguanci Baroni<\/strong> for Poggi Ugo terrecotte was presented in Milan during Fuori Salone 2024<\/strong>, as part of the UpTo Exhibition<\/strong> – “how far can you go…” held in the spaces of the Fabbrica del Vapore.<\/strong><\/p><\/p>

The exhibition, curated by Anty Pansera<\/strong> – founder of the Dcome Design<\/strong> association established to promote and disseminate women’s creativity,<\/strong> is an invitation to cross the boundaries of the traditional relationship between function, form and size of objects<\/strong>, pushing the limits of creativity and challenging conventions.<\/p><\/p>

It is with these assumptions that Sabrina Sguanci Baroni has designed the Hydra – vases<\/strong> with hydroriserva collection<\/strong>: three manifesto<\/strong>, iconic<\/strong> and functional<\/strong> vases<\/strong> that aim – in the union of the earth\/water<\/strong> binomial – to protect plant species<\/strong>, tested by the constant rise in temperatures.<\/p><\/p>

Poggi Ugo terracotta<\/strong> is the perfect choice-given its natural porosity <\/strong>– for making these special pots used as allies of greenery<\/strong>, ideal for use in both indoor<\/strong> and outdoor<\/strong> spaces.<\/p><\/p>

Sabrina Sguanci Baroni and Antonella Andrei collaborated in the creation of the three vases,<\/strong> starting with the modification of shapes already existing in the Poggi Ugo collection, to which the elements for the water reservoir<\/strong> were added: a reinterpretation of the “showers”-traditional terracotta components of the gutters<\/strong> used on roofs<\/strong> to convey rainwater since Roman times.<\/p><\/p>

The complements of the Ydra collection<\/strong> are rigorously handmade<\/strong> by the master craftsmen of the Poggi Ugo kiln<\/strong>, in which each “tank” perfectly matches the profiles that characterize each shape, creating a perfect and harmonious aesthetic<\/strong> whole. In fact, the special morphology of the three vessels requires special care at each production stage<\/strong>, which is carried out using the traditional and original techniques that characterize the production of each Poggi Ugo-branded item.<\/p><\/p>

The rediscovery of pre-industrial production<\/strong> and processing techniques –respectful of the environment<\/strong> in which they originated – is now\u00a0 a very popular<\/strong> topic.Words like sustainability<\/strong>, circularity<\/strong>, ecology<\/strong>, and recovery<\/strong> resonate from all sides.<\/p><\/p>

In more than 100 years of activity, the Poggi Ugo Furnace<\/strong> has been carrying out working methods that cannot disregard the attention and regard<\/strong> for that earth-the clay<\/strong> of Impruneta<\/strong>-that is a fundamental component of its art<\/strong>.<\/p><\/p>

The protagonists of this collection are:<\/p><\/p>

Large Ydra Cono<\/a> in which a cylinder inside the pot<\/strong> with an inclined cut accommodates the water reservoir<\/strong>, which, thanks to the porosity of the terracotta, gradually releases the right amount of moisture to the plant.<\/p><\/p>

Large Ydra FIORE<\/strong><\/a> in which five water reservoirs are placed on the outside of the vase, drawing like petals around the ideal central corolla.<\/p><\/p>

Large Ydra Quadro<\/strong><\/a> in which instead four half-cylinders placed on the outside of the vase draw water reservoirs.<\/p><\/p>
