A very special year has just begun for Italy, a peculiar and meaningful time for the entire Catholic<\/strong> and Christian<\/strong> world<\/strong>.<\/p>

The 24th of December<\/b> was in fact the inauguration<\/b> of the Holy<\/b> Year<\/b>:<\/p><\/p>

On the evening of Christmas Eve<\/b>, Pope<\/b> Francis<\/b> opened the Holy<\/b> Door<\/b> of St. Peter’s Basilica<\/b> to mark the start of the Jubilee Year 2025<\/b>.This will be a time of meetings<\/b> and events<\/b> for all the faithful, who will come to Rome<\/b> during this special period to take part in rituals<\/b> and devotions<\/b> typical of the Catholic<\/b> tradition<\/b>.<\/p><\/p>

The theme of Jubilee 2025 is “Pilgrims of Hope”.<\/b>This theme draws attention to the importance of pilgrimage<\/b> as a metaphor<\/b> for life’s journey<\/b>: setting out to get to know ourselves and our surroundings.<\/p>

For the duration of the Jubilee<\/b>, 35 million pilgrims<\/b> are expected<\/b> to fill the capital, not only to participate in the religious<\/b> events<\/b>, but also to enjoy the great works<\/b> of art that Rome has always guarded.<\/p>

Sacred art<\/b> has made Italy<\/b> famous<\/b> throughout the world over the centuries and, even today, the artistic and architectural heritage<\/b> connected to the Church of Rome is a wealth of exceptional significance, regardless of religions and creeds.<\/p>

The Italian artistic tradition is studded with great ecclesiastical patrons who, thanks to their aesthetic sense and communicative need, commissioned works that are of inestimable value to us today.<\/p>

The most important painters<\/b> and sculptors<\/b> of all time have<\/b> placed themselves at the disposal of the Church of Rome<\/b> and lent their works to Catholicism: Michelangelo<\/b>, Donatello<\/b>, Leonardo<\/b>, Raphael<\/b> are just a few of the great names<\/b> that can be counted among the many that have made Rome<\/b> and<\/b> all of Italy<\/b> great<\/b> with their historical and artistic<\/b> contributions<\/b>.<\/p>

For this great occasion, we took a trip through the historical archives of Poggi Ugo<\/b>, searching for all the terracotta<\/b> works<\/b> related<\/b> to<\/b> sacred<\/b> art<\/b>:both reproductions<\/b> of famous<\/b> works<\/b> of<\/b> art<\/b> and original<\/b> articles<\/b> inspired<\/b> by the Catholic world<\/b>.<\/p>

All these items have been collected in the Jubilee Collection<\/b><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>, which consists of statues, <\/b><\/a>decorative<\/a> <\/b>and decorative panels<\/b><\/a>).<\/p>

Many objects make up the ‘Jubilee Collection’<\/b>).Most of them are displayed<\/b> on the fa\u00e7ade of the old kiln<\/b> (a building dating from around 1600<\/b>).<\/p>

The <\/i>fa\u00e7ade of the Antica Fornace Poggi Ugo<\/i><\/b> – dating back to <\/i>1600<\/i><\/b> – is entirely <\/i>decorated<\/i><\/b> with <\/i>terracotta panels<\/i><\/b>, many of which are part of the <\/i>Jubilee Collection<\/i><\/b><\/a>.<\/i><\/b><\/p>

Some of these are models of original works<\/b>, such as the reproduction of the famous <\/b>Tondo Pitti<\/b><\/a>, a refined circular terracotta panel<\/b> that is a masterpiece<\/b> of the Renaissance<\/b> artistic tradition. This tondo is a faithful copy of the original, sculpted in Carrara marble by Michelangelo Buonarroti<\/b> and kept in the Bargello Museum in Florence<\/b>.The original plaster mould,<\/b> acquired from the Gipsoteca dell’Istituto d’Arte<\/b> di Porta Romana in Florence<\/b>, was used as the basis for this terracotta reproduction.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>

The Tondo Pitti <\/b><\/a>has really important<\/b> dimensions<\/b>: with a diameter of 85 cm<\/b>, it is perfect<\/b> to embellish a fa\u00e7ade<\/b> or to decorate a living room<\/b> because, like any object in Impruneta terracotta<\/b>, it can be used outdoors<\/b> (it is resistant<\/b> to<\/b> weather and frost up to -30\u00b0C<\/b>) or<\/b> indoors<\/b>.<\/p>

On the left, the original <\/i>Tondo Pitti<\/i><\/b>, made by Michelangelo in 1564 for Bartolomeo Pitti and now in the Bargello Museum in Florence; on the right, <\/i>the faithful reproduction<\/i><\/b> <\/i>in terracotta,<\/i><\/b> <\/i>handmade<\/i><\/b> <\/i>by<\/i><\/b> the artisans of <\/i>Poggi Ugo terrecotte.<\/i><\/b><\/p>

Another splendid terracotta work<\/b> that reproduces the original is the Annunciazione Robbiana<\/b>a replica of the glazed polychrome terracotta lunette<\/b> created by Andrea Della Robbia<\/a><\/b> for the courtyard of the Ospedale degli Innocenti in Florence.<\/b>Handcrafted by the artisans of the Poggi Ugo kiln, the terracotta version is perfect<\/b> for decorating a wall in the home – a room<\/b>, an entrance<\/b> hall<\/b>, an exterior<\/b> fa\u00e7ade<\/b> – and is a gift destined to be appreciated<\/b> and cherished over<\/b> time<\/b>.<\/p>

ANNUNCIAZIONE ROBBIANA<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/figure>

The panel depicting the <\/i>Annunciation of Della Robbia<\/i><\/b><\/a>, <\/i>80 cm wide and 43 cm high<\/i><\/b>, is suitable for <\/i>decorating the fa\u00e7ade of a house<\/i><\/b>, but also for decorating the <\/i>wall of a room<\/i><\/b> or a <\/i>large dining room<\/i><\/b>.<\/i><\/p>

Another masterpiece<\/b> to be included in the Jubilee Collection <\/b><\/a>is undoubtedly the Madonna della Seggiola<\/b><\/a>, a terracotta reproduction of Raphael’s famous painting<\/b> from the early 1500s, kept in the Palatine Gallery of the Pitti Palace in Florence.<\/b>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>

Below you can see how the craftsmanship of this timeless work of art<\/b> is carried out through the casting of plaster moulds<\/b>. Our master Lorenzo, after dusting the mould with clay powder, begins to crush the earth on the plaster mould until it is completely filled.<\/p>

When this phase is finished, he smoothes the back of the piece and applies the Fornace Poggi Ugo stamp. When the clay has had time to dry, Lorenzo takes the piece out of the mould and begins to finish it by hand, emphasising even the smallest details of the artefact.<\/p>

Each item<\/b> in the terracotta<\/b> “Jubilee Collection”<\/b> \u00a0<\/span>has a profound meaning<\/b>, combining Catholic culture<\/b> with a timeless artisan tradition.<\/b><\/p>

The reproductions of sacred images in terracotta from Impruneta are more than mere decoration:<\/p>

They are the testimony of an important tradition, shaped by skilful hands using the ancient techniques of working Impruneta clay.<\/p>

Each detail is the result of care and attention, each object tells a story that takes us back to the roots of our culture.<\/p>

These objects – statues, wall panels, busts – in terracotta can be precious gifts to celebrate the most important moments in life: birth, baptism, communion, marriage.<\/p>

They are decorative additions that can be placed in different places in the home, as wall decorations, both inside and outside the house, in the garden, but also in corners of the house that we not only want to beautify, but also to fill with a special symbolic meaning.<\/p>
