High Craftsmanship, Innovation, Sustainability and Design for the exhibition ‘Con.te.ne.re from the object to the body. Variants of scale in Craftsmanship and Design’.<\/p>

Poggi Ugo Terrecotte returns to the Italian craft and design scene with its participation in the exhibition ‘Con.te.ne.re dall’oggetto al corpo. Variants of Scale in Craftsmanship and Design’<\/a>, promoted by Fondazione CR Firenze,<\/strong> realised by OMA<\/strong>, Associazione Osservatorio dei Mestieri d’Arte, and curated by ADI<\/strong> Associazione per il Disegno Industriale, in the exhibition context of the Fortezza da Basso in Florence<\/strong>, on the occasion of the 89th MIDA<\/strong>, from April, 25th<\/strong> to May, 1st<\/strong> 2025.<\/p>

The event takes place in the historic Sala della Volta<\/strong> in the Quartieri Monumentali.<\/strong> It is an important stage for the presentation of excellent craftsmanship<\/strong> combined with contemporary design innovations<\/strong>.<\/p>

The star collection will be ‘Ydra<\/strong><\/em>‘, designed by Sabrina Sguanci Baroni<\/strong> and already presented in Milan during the Fuori Salone 2024<\/strong>.
This special collection, for this new exhibition occasion, interprets the concept of ‘containment<\/em><\/strong>‘ in a technical and symbolic key, analysing the multiple aspects that make the relationship<\/strong> between container<\/strong> and content<\/strong> a crucial element in design<\/strong>.
The objects<\/strong> on display go beyond the practical function of enclosing objects or liquids: they become custodians of memory<\/strong>, symbols of hospitality and vehicles of a design philosophy oriented towards sustainability <\/strong>and resource efficiency.<\/strong><\/p>

In fact, Ydra<\/strong> <\/em>pots are designed to “house<\/strong>, guard<\/strong> and protect<\/strong>” the plant<\/strong> they contain, through the slow<\/strong> and gradual<\/strong> release<\/strong> of water<\/strong>, thanks to the intrinsic properties of terracotta<\/strong>, known for its natural porosity<\/strong>.<\/p>

The three models that make up this innovative collection are:<\/p>

Large Ydra Cono<\/a><\/strong>: characterised by a cylinder inside the pot that, with its slanting cut, not only has an undeniable aesthetic impact, but also regulates the release of water, promoting a calibrated and gradual release of moisture.<\/p>

Large Ydra Flower:<\/strong> <\/a>Five water reservoirs arranged like petals surround the heart of the vase, creating a striking and functional visual effect.<\/p>

Large Ydra Quadro:<\/strong><\/a> Four half-cylinders strategically positioned outside the central body define the water reservoirs, emphasising the synergy between aesthetics and functionality.<\/p>

The large Ydra<\/strong><\/em> vases are born from the meeting of conscious design<\/strong> and earth-rooted craftsmanship.<\/strong><\/p>

Made from our prized Impruneta clay<\/strong>, renowned for its exceptional technical properties<\/strong>, these containers exploit the natural qualities of the raw material to create a controlled irrigation system<\/strong> ideal for plant health<\/strong>.<\/p>

Its design<\/strong>, simple but studied to the smallest detail, is not only aesthetic<\/strong>: it is a real strategy for sustainable<\/strong> water<\/strong> management<\/strong>. In a context where temperatures continue to rise and landscaping requires ever more intelligent solutions, Ydra<\/strong><\/em> proposes a concrete<\/strong>, simple and historically rooted response<\/strong>.<\/p>

A strong reference to circularity and use is found in the reinterpretation<\/strong> of the ancient terracotta ‘showers’<\/strong>, elements present in architecture since Roman times and used to collect rainwater<\/strong>.
Today, these details return in a contemporary key, transformed into both functional <\/strong>and poetic elements.<\/strong><\/p>
