Poggi Ugo is on TV. Welcome to the furnace.

There is a reason why we turned ourselves into ‘actors’ for a day and welcomed a TV crew into the rooms of the historic Poggi Ugo furnace: we wanted to open the doors to you all.

To those who are far away. To those who have not yet had the opportunity to visit us in person.
To those who really wonder what is behind a vase, a statue, any object made of terracotta.

When the production staff of Bell’Italia in Viaggio contacted us in early April and told us they would be doing an episode on Tuscany – and the story of the famous ‘cotto’ that colours the roofs of Florence red – we immediately thought:

“This is the perfect opportunity to bring the public inside the kiln, wherever it is.”

Because yes, we are craftsmen.
But we are also the vehicle of an ancient tradition, which comes straight from the time of the Medici and which we continue to perpetuate day after day, with passion and responsibility.

And precisely because of this, listening and observing the needs of the people we talk to, the customers, is the real driving force behind us today.
Your gaze, your interest, your questions help us to maintain quality and care in every detail.

We often take it for granted that everyone knows the patience, care and beauty behind every terracotta product.
But then we realise that this is not always the case.
So, showing you the hands of master craftsmen at work, letting you into the heart of the kiln, telling you how a pot is made, is our way of making you feel part of this story.

Even Fabio Troiano

– who, with Bell’Italia in Viaggio has seen so much –

was impressed by the technique, the knowledge passed down only by observing and learning, day after day, in the furnace

by those who have made a life of this art.

Between clappers and microphones

And so, between clappers, microphones and movie-set lights, we told our stories.
With spontaneity, with some emotion…

but above all with the pride of
being able to show you what is really behind every Poggi Ugo creation.

A big thank you goes to the whole team who made this special experience possible:

the editorial staff of Me Production Italia,
Toscana Promozione Turistica,
Emanuela Rosa-Clot director of the magazine Bell’Italia,

and all the wonderful people who filled the furnace with energy and professionalism:

Director Matteo Ricca,
Elenia Spagna and Luca Balsamo from the production team,
talented presenter Fabio Troiano,
as well as the entire crew, who were impeccable and passionate.
