The most typical and ancient of all Impruneta products: the jar. Once used as a container to contain wine or oil, abundantly produced in the Florentine hills, it is now an inevitable piece of furniture for gardens. Jars have a very long history as containers. They are made in many regions and for this reason are called with different names: orcio, ziro, otre, anfora, giara, coppo, doglio. The jars are objects of furniture and thanks to their particular shape with a narrow mouth, they are not very suitable to be planted directly, so it is customary to place bowls with seasonal blooms on the mouth. In cold areas, in winter it is advisable to protect them with lids, reproductions, typical of local wineries. Handmade with the original Impruneta clay and resistant to frost -30 ° C. A good drainage of the container is always necessary in order to avoid water stagnation. Jars are also commonly used as receptacles for waste water or water storage.
