Saint Anthony Impruneta Terracotta

The Saint Anthony Impruneta Terracotta panel depicts the saint in bas-relief, hand-modeled on a centred panel (rectangular with an arched top). It portrays Saint Anthony the Abbot, protector of animals and farmers, following the traditional iconography: in his left hand he holds a flame, symbol of faith and charity, while in his right he carries a staff topped with a small bell. At his feet stands a pig, the animal sacred to him, representing his protection over domestic life and rural work.
